Pass or Fail: 7-inch Round FOR 07-18 JEEP WRANGLER JK
Do not get lost on your next trail ride without bright headlights to light the way! We have put to the test the best and worst 7-inch round headlights for your 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK to elevate your lighting game before the next adventure.
STOCK HEADLIGHTS
If you have a Jeep Wrangler that uses a sealed beam headlight, we are going to be talking about something like this (shown below) coming in at 510 maximum Lux on a low beam.
Keep in mind that some headlights are brighter than others, and some headlights have different beam patterns. If your headlight looks like this one, compare that to the headlights we're about to go over.
Jeep JK/Motorcycle Halogen
510 Max. Lux (Low Beam), 590 Max. Lux (High Beam)
If you have a Jeep with modern 7-inch round headlights, you're going to be seeing something like this, coming at about 510 maximum Lux. It's got that defined hot spot and more width than the old school headlight, but we can still do better. Interestingly, when you turn on the high beam, it doesn't get a whole lot brighter. Only 80 maximum Lux and the beam pattern will grow in height.
As per usual, the stock headlights do not shine so bright. Sure, they get the job done but you could be so much safer driving at night for a few hundred bucks.
Morimoto SUPER 7
Earlier this year, Morimoto upgraded their LED projector, the MLED 2.0, to the Super 7. The improvement allows the Super 7s to perform even better than before.
With its modular design and wealth of customization options, the Super 7 reigns supreme. This model stood to the challenge in our rigorous tests. The downside, it doesn't fit in most applications outside of a Jeep Wrangler or a Jeep Gladiator. However, because this headlight is tailored for the Jeep market you know you are buying a good fit.
The Super 7 has a massive LED projector with this cool, customizable passive heat sink that allows you to create massive amounts of light on your seven-inch round project. If you wanted a textbook example of a perfect headlight beam pattern, you're looking at it.
Morimoto super 7 2.0
1,460 Max. Lux Low Beam, 1,780 Max. Lux High Beam
Morimoto is always quick to the punch with their Sealed 7 series. We cannot recommend these Super7 2.0s enough. You can purchase your own set here!
Holley Retrobright
Before we jump into all the modern style headlights, let us show you this one from Holley. That is right, the world-famous engine parts builder now has a classic sealed beam headlight, and it is incredible. There are many headlights out there that try to look period correct, and a lot of them have projectors and LED accents that detract from that period-correct look.
If you want something that is going to trick everybody in the world into thinking you have your original headlights still in place, but you want modern performance, you should be looking at the Holley sealed beam headlight. This headlight uses a traditional sealed beam type lense and a reflector with an integrated LED system. Depending on what color you want your light to be, the LED module is easily replaced. It's truly set it and forget it.
Holley Retrobright Classic LED
780 Max. Lux Low Beam, 1240 Max. Lux High Beam
The look and feel of these things scream classic, and that is what the folks at Holley were going for. These are a great option for your classic Jeep or other vehicles with a 7-inch round. You can pick up your own Holley Retrobrights here!
Movotor Halo
Next on the list is the Movotor Halo. The sharp 'U' shape of the daytime running (DLR) may be enticing, but this set's low beam comes in at 160 maximum lux. That's 40 maximum Lux less than the old-school seal beam headlight, not to mention the beam pattern is worthless. When you flip it to a high beam, sure, you get 690 maximum lux, but it's a garbage headlight. This beam pattern is unusable.

MOVOTOR HALO
160 Max. Lux Low Beam, 690 Max. Lux High Beam
While its daytime appearance may be striking, the beam pattern, mixed with the less than desirable low beam Lux maximum, leaves much to be desired. Even taking into account the 690 maximum Lux for the high beams, the Movotor Halo does not make the cut.
Do not let the attractive design sway your opinion. These lights are atrocious! We do NOT recommend purchasing these.
Quake LED
First of all, this headlight from Quake is just a blatant rip-off of JW Speaker. Quake would have greatly benefited from creating a solid product, but sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
This headlight is terrible! Quake LED seems like a pretty popular brand, why I am unsure because the bad far outweighs the good in the case of Quake's LED.
This Quake LED headlight only comes in at 230 maximum Lux? That is truly awful The high beam, which reaches a dismal 490 maximum Lux can not even outshine the stock headlights. This headlight is straight-up dangerous to drive with.
Quake LED
230 Max. Lux Low Beam, 490 Max. Lux High Beam
This JW Speaker-wannabe is a strong DO NOT BUY from us. These lights have terrible output and an even worse beam pattern.
SUP-LIGHT
Next, we will examine another light that should never go on your Jeep. Coming in at only 140 maximum Lux, this is one of the worst-performing headlights in the world. The Sup-Light is 27.5% less bright as the stock low beam headlights. When you go to high beam, it's 710 maximum Lux. While it is 200 Lux brighter than the stock high beams, it still falls short of many other good options on this list. You drive with your low beams 90% of the time, and this headlight should be banned from the USA.
Sup-LIGHT
140 Max. Lux Low Beam, 710 Max. Lux High Beam
This abysmal light can not even best the stock light in respect to low-beam output. Sure, it may beat stock in the high beam department, but good luck seeing anything with that terrible beam pattern. We DO NOT recommend purchasing this model.
KC HILITES GRAVITY REFLECTOR
I've been a massive fan of the KC HiLites Gravity series of LED headlights ever since they came out. When I had my Jeep, this is what I had on it, and it was one of the best performing drivable headlights I've ever seen.
Here we have two great options, that for the most part, come down to your personal preference. First, you've got the KC Highlights Gravity LED reflector headlight, and you've got the KC highlights Gravity Pro, which uses a projector. Both will work for a Jeep with a 7-inch round headlight. The key difference to note between the two is that because the KC Highlights Pro is a projector light, it will yield better depth for the light.
KC HILITES GRAVITY REFLECTOR
700 Max. Lux Low Beam, 1,130 Max. Lux High Beam
KC HiLites is just one of those brands that never misses. We highly recommend these Gravity Reflector headlights if you are looking for something with a bit more depth.
KC HILITES GRAVITY Projector
If you are looking for something with more depth, the KC highlights Gravity Pro is the one to go with. The Pro boasts a 610 maximum Lux for the low beams, 100 more than stock, and ups the game with a 1300 maximum Lux high beam.
KC HILITES GRAVITY PROJECTOR
610 Max. Lux Low Beam, 1,300 Max. Lux High Beam
If you do not mind sacrificing a little bit of brightness for some distance, the KC HiLites Gravity Projectors are for you! Grab a pair here!
JW Speaker 8700 Evolution 2
When talking about 7-inch round LED headlights. You can't look past JW Speaker. In the world of Jeeps, these are the gold standard. Harley Davidson, Polaris, city buses, motorhomes, and many other vehicles for commercial and private use are equipped with JW Speaker headlights.
Then we have the tried and true gold standard JW Speaker 8700 Evo 2. This thing fits almost everything you put it in and has excellent performance and reliability.
JW SPEAKER 8700 EVOLUTION 2
670 Max. Lux Low Beam, 1,270 Max. Lux High Beam
Truck-Lite 27270C
Back in the day, Truck-Lite invented the world's first LED sealed beam headlight for military use. Then, they came out with this. This is the 27270c headlight from Truck-Lite, and it still, after years of testing, has the best and brightest high beam that you're going to find.
truck-lite
800 Max. Lux Low Beam, 2,010 Max. Lux High Beam
With its excellent beam pattern and incredible light output, you really can not go wrong with these. You can find the Truck-Lite LED headlights here!
Morimoto Sealed 7
The Morimoto Sealed 7 is one of our favorites because it has arguably the perfect beam pattern. It may not be the brightest headlight, but the competitors do not have the same level of fit versatility as these do. It is a great option for pretty much any application.
Here is the low beam. I love the fact that it is this super-wide projector shape with a sharp cut off and all of the light is focused in that top band of light. There is no big weird shape like some of them.
This is just a textbook perfect beam pattern with light in all the right places. With a beam pattern like this, you are much safer driving at night compared to some of the other options out there. If you are buying headlights for a loved one, and you want a headlight that will not break the bank, the Sealed 7 is what you are looking for.
Morimoto Sealed 7
590 Max. Lux Low Beam, 940 Max. Lux High Beam
Another Morimoto light for the hall of fame. You can not go wrong with this light. We definitely recommend picking up your own here.
VisionX VX Series
The VX series headlight from Vision X is an interesting option because these guys make light bars, and they took that same iris technology out of their XPR light bars and put it in the high beam. That being said, this headlight is very popular in the Jeep communities.
VISION X VX SERIES
1,140 Max. Lux Low Beam, 670 Max. Lux High Beam (1,810 MAX. LUX HIGH BEAM WITH HIGH 4 ADAPTER)
It has a similar beam pattern as the Sealed 7s, but with less definition to the edges. Nonetheless, the Vision X VX Series is still a great option. Especially when you consider the ability to toggle between the high beam and the High 4 Adapter to give you that extra visibility when driving at night.
VISION X VX SERIES WITH HIGH 4 ADAPTER
This Vision X VX Series is a great option for your Jeep build. There is a reason why it is so popular among Jeep and Motorcycle owners. You can get your own set of Vision X VX Series LED headlights here!
