Are Morimoto XB Headlights completely plug-and-play?

Yes, all Morimoto XB LED and XB Hybrid headlights will be completely plug-and-play. Morimoto knows how important it is to have an easy and stress-free install and created these headlights to be easy enough to install in the comfort of your own garage. The XB LED headlight units are made with OEM factory connectors which ensure the perfect fitment for all models. If you have an OEM HID or OEM LED vehicle, Morimoto creates OE quality adapter harnesses with factory connectors to make the headlights compatible with your vehicles. No modifications are necessary to install Morimoto XB LED headlights and they will not void your factory warranty.

 


 

Do the headlights come with everything needed for installation?

Every XB LED and XB Hybrid unit will come with everything needed for installation, minus the tools. The purchase of your new headlights will get you one pair of high-performance LED headlights, a plug-and-play wiring harness, and a DRL fuse tap harness. Additional items you may need for installation may include Torx drivers, sockets or wrenches, screwdrivers, and pry tools.

 


 

Do the XB LED Headlights need separate bulbs?

There are two versions of Morimoto XB headlights available. The XB LED headlights are a fully-LED equipped headlight unit that does not require any additional bulbs. The low beam, high beam, DRL, turn signals, and parking lights are all included within the headlight.

The XB LED Hybrid headlight will require the use of a turn signal bulb. We recommend re-using the OEM turn signal bulb or upgrading to an LED turn signal to match the rest of the LED-equipped headlight. The low beam, high beam, and DRL are included within the headlight and do not require any additional bulbs. If you are looking to upgrade to an LED turn signal, check out our selection here.

 


 

Does Morimoto have an install guide? Video?

How much brighter are the Morimoto headlights versus my stock headlights?

On average, the Morimoto XB LED headlights are 2-5x brighter than your OEM headlights. The beam pattern provided by the XB LED headlights is also much wider, providing an even light distribution in a wider range of view. The upgrade of light output can vary from vehicle to vehicle, luckily for you, we do all the testing on our YouTube channel. When Morimoto releases a new headlight, we bring that headlight into our studio to do a controlled environment test. We will test the max lux of the headlight at a 25 ft distance from the wall. With these measurements, you can get a clear comparison of how the Morimoto XB stacks up to OEM headlights.

 


 

Should I buy the XB LED Headlights or the XB Hybrid Headlights?

The answer to this question depends on the budget you are working with. The XB LED headlights are the more expensive headlights that have more bells and whistles. The XB LED Hybrids are the cheaper, entry-level model.

The XB LED headlights were created to make something that was better than anything else on the market. They achieved this with bi-LED technology and special features. These features include an LED turn signal with sequential or standard functions and an animated start-up sequence. There are no halogen lights needed on this model, it is completely LED-equipped and there is no need for replacing bulbs.

The good news is – a lot of the best things about the XB LED are transferred over to the entry-level XB Hybrid models. You still get the same UV-coated polycarbonate lenses, the 5-year warranty, and the same high-quality LED internals that the high-end model has. When it comes to performance, you don’t see that much of a difference between the two models thanks to them both using bi-LED projectors. The big differences between the XB Hybrid models are turn signals, the interior color, and there is no start-up sequence. The turn signal on the XB Hybrid units re-uses the OEM halogen bulb which can also be upgraded to an LED bulb. The interior of the XB Hybrid units is grayer in color as well. Overall, they are still a fantastic upgrade for any budget-conscious shopper looking for a real lighting upgrade.

 


 

What happens if one of my bulbs burns out?

XB LED headlights do not contain any replaceable bulbs for the low-beam or high-beam portions of the headlights. Only the XB LED Hybrid headlights contain a replaceable turn signal bulb. If your OEM turn signal bulb stops working overtime, you will replace this as normal with any other headlight unit.

If you ever discover that one of your low beams or high beams is not firing up, we encourage you to check all wiring and connectors. Ensure that all connectors are free of corrosion and do not contain any bent pins. If you suspect the headlight is defective, you can confirm this by installing the working headlight on the side of the defective headlight. If the issue follows the defective headlight, please reach out to our customer service team to begin the warranty process.

 


 

Will my OEM headlight functions still work?

If you have OEM headlight functions on your dash or wheel stalk, these functions will still work. The Morimoto XB LED headlights will not take away any OEM functions for the headlights. The installation of these headlights will also not void any factory warranties.

 


 

I just installed my Morimoto headlights, and they won’t turn on. What next?

There are 5 main causes as to why your headlights might not be working.

  • There are bent pins inside one of the connectors. Make sure to carefully look at each connector to make sure the pins are making contact inside.
  • Install error – it could simply be one of the plugs is unplugged or plugged in backward. Please make sure to review the install guide before moving on to further steps.
  • Blown fuses within the fuse box. Check any headlight-related fuses and replace them if needed.
  • Incompatible with trim or model vehicle. Depending on which trim level and factory options you have, some of the Morimoto XB LED headlights might not be compatible. Make sure to read Morimoto’s compatibility guide before purchasing.
  • Defective headlights upon delivery. If you have one side that works and one side that doesn’t, we recommend installing the working headlight on the side of the defective headlight. If the issue follows the defective headlight, please reach out to our customer service team to begin the warranty process.

 


 

My headlight is not working correctly. What do I do?

There are 6 main causes as to why your headlights might not be working.

  • There are bent pins inside one of the connectors. Make sure to carefully look at each connector to make sure the pins are making contact inside.
  • Install error – it could simply be one of the plugs is unplugged or plugged in backward. Please make sure to review the install guide before moving on to further steps.
  • Blown fuses within the fuse box. Check any headlight-related fuses and replace them if needed.
  • Incompatible with trim or model vehicle. Depending on which trim level and factory options you have, some of the Morimoto XB LED headlights might not be compatible. Make sure to read Morimoto’s compatibility guide before purchasing.
  • Defective headlights upon delivery. If you have one side that works and one side that doesn’t, we recommend installing the working headlight on the side of the defective headlight. If the issue follows the defective headlight, please reach out to our customer service team to begin the warranty process.
  • If you have additional aftermarket LED parts installed, they could be causing interference with your new headlights. We recommend uninstalling other aftermarket parts and testing again.

 


 

My headlights stay on even after my vehicle is turned off.

There are 4 main causes as to why your headlights might be keeping connection even after the vehicle is turned off.

  • There are bent pins inside one of the connectors or DRL harness. Make sure to carefully look at each connector to make sure the pins are making contact inside.
  • Install error – Check the install guide for the correct fuse tap location.
  • Did the DRL harness get installed? Did you remember to connect the harness to both headlights?
  • Defective headlights upon delivery. If you have one side that works and one side that doesn’t, we recommend installing the working headlight on the side of the defective headlight. If the issue follows the defective headlight, please reach out to our customer service team to begin the warranty process.

 


 

How do I adjust the XB Headlights?

If the adjustment screws for aiming are turned past the recommended limit, it can lead to further adjustment issues. Over-twisting these adjustments might cause the threads within the headlight to strip, which affects movement for up and down aiming. You could also over-twist the adjustment so that it unscrews completely, making it impossible to adjust. When you get your new Morimoto headlights, it’s important to remember that they are aimed and properly adjusted for vehicles with the stock right height. If further adjustments are needed, you can utilize the vertical and horizontal adjustments on the back of each headlight unit.

We suggest no more than 3 complete (360 degrees) turns in either direction. Remember, do not use power tools to make these adjustments. Use hand tools only as adjusters cannot be replaced or repaired.

Symptoms of a broken adjuster can be bouncing projectors while driving or the lights pointing at the ground. If you believe you have a broken adjuster, please reach out to our customer service team to begin the warranty process.

 


 

Are Morimoto headlights street-legal?

Morimoto XB LED and XB Hybrid units meet & exceed all SAE, DOT, and FMVSS108 regulations when aimed properly.

 


 

Are my headlights covered under warranty?

If you are buying your Morimoto XB Headlights from an authorized Morimoto dealer, such as Headlight Revolution, they come with the standard 5-year warranty.

 


 

What does the 5-year warranty cover?

Morimoto’s 5-year warranty covers manufacturer defects of product function, parts, and finish. If the product stops working as intended or becomes blemished without being caused by damage, Morimoto will replace that part for you. The warranty does not cover or reimburse for install labor costs. Morimoto warranties are nontransferable and can only be claimed by the original purchaser.

 


 

Do I have to pay for shipping to return a warranty?

If you find that your Morimoto headlight is defective, we will pay for the return and replacement shipping of your new unit. This is only for customers within the United States. Customer outside of the United States will be responsible for all shipping costs and duties associated with the warranty. If you are needing a replacement expedited, we are happy to accommodate you but understand you will be charged for the additional shipping costs.

 


 

I need to return my headlights, what do I do?

Returns can be processed if you have owned the part for less than 45 days. After 45 days, we are unable to issue a refund for the product. If you decide you do need to return the headlights within the 45-day period, please reach out to our customer service department to begin the return process.

 


 

How long does it take to get a refund?

Refunds are issued back to the original form of payment and may take 2-5 business days for the credit to appear in your account. If you would prefer to have the refund issued in store credit, our customer service team can accommodate this as well.
